Poor Little Bird

OK, so I know that pigeons aren't the prettiest of birds, but I was sitting in San Fran out by Pier 2 last week just enjoying the sunny weather when this bird flew over and landed on the edge of the dock right in front me me. The poor guy only had one workable leg, the other had two claws fused together that it couldn't use. So he was balancing himself on the one leg.

Nor'easter Schmor'easter

It's a rainy and miserable day in NYC. I'm stranded inside my apartment after one rain-soaked trip to Starbucks for coffee this morning. My time has been spent watching Food Network or working. In fact, according to MSNBC, we're in the midst of a Nor'easter. I'm a little nervous that my flight to Providence, RI will be severely delayed tomorrow due to all of the cancellations from today. Keep your fingers crossed, and stay dry!

Bolo is a No No

Maybe it's because I was sick, maybe it's because it was 7pm on a Monday night and over 60% of the tables were empty, but Bobby Flay's Bolo Restaurant certainly wasn't up to the standards of Mesa Grill, Bobby Flay's shining star. Bolo is more of a Spanish Tapas restaurant with the standard entrees of the likes of Mesa Grill. We started off with two appetizers, shrimp & garlic and baked manchego cheese. Certainly standard on any tapas menu. For dinner I had the pork tenderloin that was supposed to be "filled" with walnuts and a sherry fig sauce, but it never made it's way into the pork. My friend had the carmelized chicken...it looked and tasted better than my pork. It literally fell right off the bone, yummy!!

I'm not sure if given the chance I'd go back, thre are certainly thousands of other restaurants in NYC that would be better. In my opinion I'd stick to Mesa Grill!

Vegas, Baby

I had a client meeting on Wednesday in San Fran with BitTorrent, and traveled with three colleagues of mine in to and out of San Fran in one day. So tiring, but we worked the flights where we had a 3.5 hour lay-over in Vegas, just enough time to grab a cab, have some dinner, and lose money at blackjack. Being a fan of Bobby Flay, we made reservations at Mesa Grill in Caesars Palace. Having been to Mesa Grill in NYC about a dozen times, I was eager to see this location. The ambiance certainly didn't disappoint, with large light fixtures, glass vases, and art installations that one of my colleagues said looked like the candy dots that comes on paper strips. ;-) We didn't have a hard time securing reservations at 9pm on a Wednesday night. The food was good too...just like NYC. You can't go wrong with the shrimp and corn tamale!

Let's Go Buffalo

My beloved Buffalo Sabres came to Pittsburgh Tuesday night to play the Penguins. Yahoo! was in town, spending the day with our client services team, and took about 20 of us out to the game. Naturally, I was the only Buffalo Sabres fan in my group, and was booed every time the Sabres scored. Fortunately, the boys won 4-1, breaking a nasty streak that I had going whereby every game I attended, they lost. They've got two games left in the season, and are 1 point behind Detroit for the best record in the NHL. Let's go Buffalo!!

Speaking of...check out the Sabres logo evolution...it looks like we've had a logo crisis latetly! The latest and greatest looks like a buffalo on crack. If you ask me, they should go back to the original logo!
